As we kick off yet another week in the world of consulting mergers and acquisitions, there’s no shortage of exciting activity to discuss. Most notably, Accenture has taken the lead with their recent acquisition of a mining consultancy based out of Perth.

But that’s not all – there have been a number of other interesting deals worth noting as well. For those of us with a keen interest in this space, it’s always exciting to see the latest developments unfold right before our eyes.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the specifics and see what’s been going on in this ever-evolving sector.

#1. Perth-based mining consultancy ATI Solutions joins Accenture

Accenture’s digital engineering and manufacturing division has expanded its team in Perth with the addition of 60 professionals. This expansion comes as a result of the acquisition of ATI Solutions, a local mining and energy consultancy.

Founded in 2010 by Tim Ashenden and Matt Andrews, with Matt previously serving as a consulting director at Ajilon (which later rebranded as Modis and recently merged into Akkodis), ATI brings more than two decades of experience in the resources industry and consulting to the table. The company will retain its name and now operates as ‘ATI, part of Accenture.’

In a LinkedIn post, the company expressed its excitement about the collaboration between ATI and Industry X, stating, “The combined capabilities of ATI and Industry X will be a game-changer. We are confident that this change will empower us to create innovative offerings in the market, enhance the value we provide to our clients, and unlock exciting development opportunities for our team. We look forward to collaborating with the Accenture Industry X team.”

#2. WSP sells Louis Berger Services to Versar

WSP, a design and engineering consultancy headquartered in Montreal, has recently completed the sale of Louis Berger Services (LBS) to Versar, a project management company based in Washington, DC.

Louis Berger Services is a specialized provider of operational and maintenance services catering to military installations and transport infrastructure. Their areas of expertise encompass aerial port operations, contingency logistics, ground support services, and heavy vehicle maintenance.

The acquisition of Louis Berger Services by Versar is poised to bolster Versar’s capabilities in installation management and support services. This includes a broad spectrum of offerings such as power generation, utilities management, equipment and vehicle maintenance, engineering and environmental services, emergency management, transportation solutions, airfield operations, accommodations, ordnance management, safety and security, and facilities maintenance. These services are delivered to clients spanning the defense, law enforcement, healthcare, and transportation sectors.

#3. UST acquires telecom engineering firm MobileComm

UST, an IT consultancy headquartered in Orange County, has successfully acquired MobileComm, a telecom engineering firm based in Dallas.

Established in 2002, MobileComm boasts a workforce of 1,300 professionals spanning the United States, India, and Canada. The company’s wireless engineering experts specialize in assisting communication service providers (CSPs) in various critical areas, including network modernization, the rollout of 5G networks, enhancing network performance, RF engineering, creating private cellular networks, and implementing Open RAN solutions.

UST’s acquisition of MobileComm represents a significant step in fortifying its presence in the telecommunications sector. It will enable UST to blend its strengths in cloud computing and devsecops with MobileComm’s expertise in wireless engineering.

This synergistic approach will result in the development of distinctive solutions tailored for CSP clients. Additionally, this deal will empower UST to introduce carefully curated 5G use cases to CSPs, facilitating the discovery of new avenues for monetization within the industry.
