I am a big fan of the RASCI Methodology. Had used this methodology for the first time for a large gas company many years ago. This first brush with RASCIs was a rocky one, though. Blame it on a poor attempt to translate the methodology.
Indeed ‘A’, usually standing for Accountable, became “acteur” (stakeholder), and ‘R’ usually standing for Responsible became “Responsible” (accountable). So for those that know the methodology, the A just became the R and the R the A … you can imagine the surprise of the other European teams when we shared our results. For the others, go straight to the article included in this edition.
Designing organizations is much more complex than simply crafting an organization chart. You need to make sure that the organization system is working properly considering, at the same time, the structure, the processes, the culture, and the people. All this without jeopardizing the dynamics in the existing set-up by creating unnecessary anxiety.
In this issue of This Week in Consulting, we explore good practices to make the matrix work, how to change behaviors, how to define and embed values, how to avoid losing momentum during a reorganization and how organization design can make or break a deal.

Conversely, when it’s done right, leadership teams can capture the full projected value from a deal and set up the new entity for long-term success. This insightful piece from BCG offers five imperatives that companies can follow to capture the full projected value from an M&A deal.
